Getting Started

You can get started with using Microsoft Teams Jira Integration by following a few easy steps.

Logging in to Microsoft Teams

When you first visit the configuration page of the app you will be prompted to sign in to your Microsoft 365 account. Please use the button below to get started:
Follow the instructions on the configuration page to authorize the application.
There are two different ways to connect a Microsoft Teams channel with Jira: using a Webhook or using the Bitband Bot.

Connecting using a Webhook

In Microsoft Teams

  1. 1.
    If you don't have any teams in Microsoft Teams join or create a team.
  2. 2.
    Create a channel within the team. Make note of the channel name.
  3. 3.
    Within the channel search for the "Incoming Webhook" app. Once found, click on "Add to a team". Select the channel you want to connect to. Then click on "Set up a connector". Name your connection and click "Create". Scroll down and copy the Webhook URL.

In Microsoft Teams Jira Integration

  1. 1.
    In the Microsoft Team Jira Integration app click on "Add channel with Webhook".
2. Enter the channel name and paste the webhook link in the appropriate fields then click "Save".

Connecting using the Bitband Bot

In Microsoft Teams

  1. 1.
    If you don't have any teams in Microsoft Teams join or create a team.
  2. 2.
    Create a channel within the team.
  3. 3.
    Add the "Bitband Jira Bot" to the selected team. You can do this by going to Manage team - Apps - More apps and searching for the bot.
4. After you have added the bot, open it. On the first page you will need to enter your Jira base URL (http://site.atlassian.net/), your Atlassian username/email and your API token
5. On the next page you will be asked to sign in to your Microsoft 365 account. Click the button and follow the steps in the pop-up window
6. After this the bot is ready to be used in Microsoft Teams:

In Microsoft Teams Jira Integration

  1. 1.
    On the configuration page of the app select "Add channel with Bitband Bot"
2. Name the connection, select the team and channel you wish to connect and click "Save".
Now you will receive selected notifications to the connected Microsoft Teams channel.
